For a second straight year ARSIS Consulting is setting up a series of training sessions on product identification for the Bulgarian customs officers operating under Regulation 608/2013 concerning customs enforcement of intellectual property rights and will provide training on location. In 2018 a total of 5 regional training sessions are planned to take place in Sofia, Plovdiv, Burgas, Varna and Ruse.

The first training session from the 2018 IP roadshow on anti-counterfeiting took place in Sofia on March 29, 2018. A total of 29 officers from Airport Sofia customs office, Stolichna Customs office, Kalotina Customs office, Jugozapadna Customs office and Lom Customs office took part in the training.

The participants were first addressed by Mr. Velizar Sokolov, managing partner of ARSIS Consulting, who as a representative of the private sector expressed his gratitude towards the Bulgarian Customs Agency and the customs officers for their efforts and congratulated the Customs for the excellent results achieved in 2017 which saw highly increased numbers of counterfeit goods seized by the local authorities. Afterwards, ARSIS Consulting team members delivered product ID presentations on a number of brands for which ARSIS acts as a local point of contact under Regulation 608/2013.

Throughout the training session the participants were trained how to quickly identify suspicious products and be alert for the most recent trends in counterfeiting techniques. The customs officers also had the opportunity to examine samples of counterfeit products and were able to test their newly acquired skills on detecting the incorrect labeling and logo misrepresentation on the educational samples.

The 2018 IP roadshow on anti-counterfeiting continues with a training session in Plovdiv in this April.
