On March 29, 2017 the Bulgarian Customs Agency and ARSIS Consulting started a series of joint training sessions for detection of counterfeit goods for the officers of the Customs Agency operating under Regulation 608/2013 concerning customs enforcement of intellectual property rights.
The training session in Sofia was opened by the managing partner of ARSIS Consulting Mr. Velizar Sokolov who expressed his gratitude towards the Customs Agency and the participants in the training in particular for their dedicated effort and active support in counteracting piracy and counterfeiting and safeguarding the European consumers from the dangers of fake products.
43 customs officers from Airport Sofia customs office, Stolichna Customs office, Kalotina Customs office and Jugozapadna Customs office took part in the training session in Sofia. Product ID presentations on adidas, Reebok, Nike, Converse, Louis Vuitton, Cartier, Montblanc, Officine Panerai, Crocs, Salvatore Ferragamo, Durex, Scholl and Rubik were delivered by long term experts of ARSIS Consulting. The participants acknowledged the importance of Bulgaria as an outer border of the EU and discussed actual proposals for improvement of the counter actions against the import and distribution of counterfeits in Bulgaria building upon the best practices of border monitoring established by the Bulgarian Customs Agency.
The 2017 anti-counterfeiting roadshow continues with training sessions for the regional customs offices in Plovdiv, Burgas and Ruse later this year.
