Varna and Burgas - the latest stops within the 2018 IP roadshow on anti-counterfeiting21.06.2018
After the training sessions for customs inspectors that took place in Sofia in March, 2018 and in Plovdiv in April, 2018, the 2018 IP roadshow on anti-counterfeiting set up by ARSIS Consulting continued its tour with another two events in Varna and Burgas in June, 2018. The series of trainings were traditionally focused on helping on-the-field customs officers working under Regulation 608/2013 concerning customs enforcement of intellectual property rights to easily detect suspicious products of participating brands.
On June 5, 2018 the first training session ever to take place at Varna Customs office was met with enthusiasm by the local officers who had previously expressed serious interest for an entire training session dedicated solely to their enforcement unit. Varna Customs office is responsible for overlooking Port Varna which is the sea port that handles major long-distance shipments.
On June 6, 2018 the IP roadshow went south to Burgas where the other important sea port of Bulgaria is located – Port Burgas. For a second consecutive year the event was attended by officers from Burgas Customs office, Lesovo border point and Malko Turnovo border point who overlook the outer land border of the EU.
In the course of the training sessions ARSIS Consulting team members delivered product ID presentations on a number of brands for which ARSIS acts as a local point of contact under Regulation 608/2013. Throughout the training sessions the participants had the opportunity to examine samples of counterfeit products and were trained how to quickly identify suspicious products based on incorrect labeling and logos misrepresentation. Special attention was given to the upcoming World Cup of Football and the expected increase of counterfeiting activities with sport merchandise.
The 2018 anti-counterfeiting roadshow continues with a training session in Ruse later this year.
