ARSIS anti-counterfeiting team recently travelled to Kapitan Andreevo border point at the very border with Turkey for the second training session of the 2019 IP roadshow on anti-counterfeiting. The one-day training event was aimed at providing the Bulgarian front-line officers with practical insights on how to identify suspicious shipments and stop counterfeit goods.

The training session in Kapitan Andreevo was attended by a total of 24 customs officers who are directly responsible for the key border point in Kapitan Andreevo which handles the heavy land traffic from Turkey. Also in attendance were customs officers from Plovdiv who shared their experience on tackling small shipments. In addition to the product IP presentations, the participants were also able to study samples of counterfeit goods and test their skills in practice.

The IP roadshow which aims to support the work of Bulgarian customs officers in detecting and seizing counterfeit products will now move for the next training sessions to Varna and Burgas – the two cities in Bulgaria with major Black Sea ports which handle significant sea cargo shipments.
